Safe Creative
We ‘ve just published a Mozilla Firefox extension that uses the search api, as an example of API usage, maybe used as an starting point for other uses.
This extensions adds a new contextual submenu to any image loaded in the browser (even from local files). When invoked, the md5 checksum of the image is calculated to call Safe Creative’s search api. If any result is found (with this implementation only exact matches are possible), a new window with work title, author(s) and license is shown. Otherwise, a “No rights info” notice appears.
The extension is open-sourced and available under a MIT license at http://code.google.com/p/rightsinfo/
Also installable from http://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/14452
